The Influence of a Good Book

Farrell found a book that really caught his attention. Holes by Louis Sachar. He started reading it one night and come the next morning, the influence of the book hit him…. he started digging his own hole.

He shoveled and hurled and heaved and hoed and finally took a break when it was about 3 feet deep. (This was when a few of his siblings took the opportunity to test out the depth.) After a big drink, he continued digging and digging -- he stopped at approximately 5 feet.

I had to leave a comment because Ryan JUST finished this book for his March book report and choose to do his report in the form of a DVD so the whole family acted out this book and Ryan wrote the scenes and did the directing. Fun stuff! I'll have to show Ryan Farrel's hole. He'll be very impressed! Did he find the treasure and the yellow spotted lizards, too? :)

okay... ha! This brings back memories. Geoff used to dig holes in our backyard too. Strolling through the backyard could be life threatening. Some holes were hidden with layers of branches and leaves.
